Super Bowl 44 and Some Flashbacks

As a lot of you know, I am a California transplant from Indianapolis, Indiana.  And although I have lived in Southern California since March of 1975, I have remained a true fan of any sport that comes out of Naptown.  Basketball was always big, and although when I lived there we didn't have a pro football team, I remember going to many many MANY high school football games.

You can only imagine how happy I am that my Indianapolis Colts are back to win another Super Bowl! 

Since 1998, the Colts have become the first in league history to win 12 games or more in five consecutive seasons - extending this record to seven after the 2009 season.

The Colts came to Indy in 1984 - 9 years after I had moved to the West Coast.

The Colts have been in three Super Bowls - two while the team was in Baltimore (Super Bowl III when the New York Jets beat the Baltimore Colts 16 to 7 and Super Bowl V when the Baltimore Colts beat the Dallas Cowboys 16 to 13) and one since they have been in Indianapolis - Super Bowl XLI where the Colts beat up on the Chicago Bears 29 to 17 on February 4, 2007.

Want to purchase some advertising space on television during the SuperBowl?  Well, 30 seconds of advertising time during the 2010 telecast is expected to be around 3.01 million dollars.

And speaking of commercials, for the past 20 years the most famous commercial has been the "I'm going to Disney World!" ad.

In 1993, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird played a game of Horse for a McDonald's Big Mac and fries. The game was made more interesting due to the increasingly complex set of obstacles that were set up for both players.

And in 1973, the first famous Super Bowl commercial was for Noxzema and featured legendary New York Jets Quarterback Joe Namath.  Click on link to see commercial.

Selective Tweeting

Back in July of this year, I did this big blog post about Twitter and how I didn't have time and how it didn't make sense to me and well, you can re-read the post if you'd like.  You know, in case you want to say I told you so?

So here's what happened . . . November 14th I was at the RSC in Carson, CA hovering over the Tim Holtz demo table.  He mentioned something about Twitter and tweeting and how he does it and so on.  I pretty much tuned him out and dismissed the whole thing, because if you remember, I don't have TIME to tweet anybody.  Well, I missed out on some really cool free stuff  (isn't it ALL cool?!)  that mr. holtz gave away!  urrrrrrgh, that daggone Genevieve rubbing it in my face!


Fast forward to Mario . . . Mario did this "sneak" post on Tim's blog while Tim was busy designing the upcoming tags, telling everybody that he's (Mario) going to be giving away some free stuff on Twitter.  Damn, damn, DAMN! (said the way Florida Evans would have said it on  "Good Times")

Cut to the chase:  I'm on Twitter now.  Yep, I am.  I'm not following many people, but I am DEFINITELY following Mario and Tim and a few other select folks.

The Win!  Well, already this tweeting thing has paid off for me.  Last night I won a package of  Seasonal Grungeboard from Mario.  Yep, and he's mailing it off to me today, so now I can make Tim's first 12-days of Christmas tag.  See the snowman on the sheet in the upper left-hand corner?  Uh huh . . . that's the snowman he used.

 In Closing:  So yes, I will be tweeting . . . if only tweeting selectively *smiles*

Damages - TV for Mature Audiences

I was just heartbroken when The Shield ended its series last season. I am so hoping they will either surprise me and come back, or make a movie.

But while I wait on that to happen, I have the new season of Damages to look forward to!

If you like a good action-packed drama and some really good acting, then set your dvrs, tivo, or tape recorder for this television series that starts back up this Wednesday, January 7th.
The show stars Glenn Close as Patty Hewes, Rose Byrne as Ellen Parsons, Zeljko Ivanek as Ray Fiske (Season 1), Noah Bean as David Connor (Season 1), Tate Donovan as Tom Shayes and Ted Danson as Arthur Frobisher.

Some newcomers to this season are William Hurt, Marcia Gay Harden, and Mario van Peebles.

Cuttlebug, Big Kick, Big Shot, Pazzles, WHAT?!

The extent of my scrapbooking-related "machines" is a Xyron 250, 900 and 510, a Zutter Bind-it-All and a Crop-a-dile. I have never purchased any die-cutting machine, because every time one would come out, by the time I would research it, another one was on the market! I could never make up my mind on what to buy.

When I was at the rubberstamp convention last Saturday in Carson, Tim Holtz was using this electric machine (above photo) that he was putting his Grungeboard through, and with the click of a button, out came embossed patterned Grungeboard! It was sooooooooo cool.

Tim had a box of these folder-looking things that he was putting the Grungeboard in and each one had different patterns. The pattern was embossed on whatever piece he ran through this machine. I think I'm going to NEED one of these.

Ok, so I've started my research on this machine - Sizzix Big Shot Express. What I've read is that it can do everything the regular Big Shot does, but it is electric. Just plug it in, and then with a push of a button the dies automatically go through. AND, I read that you can die cut stuff like fabric! Being electric and all, I think this would be good for someone with arthritis (ah, that would be me).

Seeing as I'm new to this whole Big Shot thing, are there any of you out there that can give me some guidance? Do you have one of these electric things? The price tag is a little steep for me to just run out and pick one up, so I need to know if this is something I just "have to have". And if it IS something I need to have, where's the best place to get one?

Vacation - Day 16

Well, I've dreaded writing this blog post all day now. Why you ask? Because tomorrow morning it's back to work at (as I so fondly call it) *the day job*. Yep, the fun and games is over folks. Or at least as I've grown to know it these last 17 days of pure bliss!

There was a disc jockey on a radio station I used to listen to back in Indiana when I was a young girl, and at the end of his show he would always say the following:

It's been fun

but I got ta run

'cause the clock of the wall

says - bye ya'll

I'm not gone for good, I just won't have the luxury of blogging every day at any time of the day, like I've been able to do these past couple of weeks. I'll probably go back to my 4:30am blog posts before I head off to work each day.

Before I sign off for the evening, I wanted to share another product I read about called Flower Soft that some of you might be interested in. I haven't seen the product in person yet, but it looks like something I may have to get a jar of and try.

Flower Soft is a pot of colored sprinkles that allows you to create text, designs and miniature floral embellishments. Check out their website for some really cool projects. There's also a demo that a blog I found called Inspire Me has made that you might like to view as well.

I can see using them to decorate cards, gift tags, pictures, eggs . . . oh the possibilities!
