Full, Tired and in Need of a Nap!

Got up early and headed over to Tustin for the neighborhood garage sale. The best sale was at my friend, Fe's house. I ALMOST bought that cabinet that I blogged about last night ($20), but I couldn't bring myself to purchasing another "big" item to try to find a place for *smiles*. A gentleman stopped by about an hour into the sale, and took it away before I could change my mind. LOL

After the garage sale, I followed Fe over to Irvine to the Diamond Jamboree Shopping Center. I had never been to this place before. Fe treated me to lunch at a restaurant called Greek Islands.

I had the skewer of salmon on a bed of rice and a fabulous Greek salad. The food was de-li-cious! . . .

After lunch, in the same shopping center, Fe took me to a bakery called 85 Degrees Celsius Bakery Cafe. The bakery is named for the ideal temperature at which to brew coffee - 85°C.

This place serves a sea-salt iced coffee that was yuuummmm-eeee!

Salty coffee may sound strange, but it isn't so much an acquired taste as it is chronological tasting. You're supposed to lick the salty foam to arouse your senses, then savor the sweet, creamy coffee. You can read all about it HERE. In Taiwan, 85°C has surpassed Starbucks to become the biggest coffee chain there.

Ok, the coffee was "the bomb", but this was a BAKERY. OMG, I think I'm going to be glad that this place is not on my route to any of my day-job locations. You can smell the bread baking throughout the entire shopping center when you get out of your car!

Interesting bakery. When you walk in, you grab a white tray and a pair of tongs and then walk around and pick out what you want and place it on your tray. And when fresh, hot, breads and pastries are being brought out from the kitchen, the workers all say loudly "Fresh, Hot, Bread!". They must have said that 3 or 4 times while we were in there. The one missing in this case with the blueberry filling? Yep, it was on my tray *smiles*

Then there were the cases in the front of the store with all of the "special" pastries - as if they could get any more special! . . .

Look at these strawberry treats! . . .

and this cake they call Fruit Mountain Cake . . .

We left the bakery cafe and headed over to Sterling Art for their moving sale . . .

I don't shop at this store that often, because their prices are so much higher than the Art Warehouse in Westminster. However, since everything was 40% off, I picked up a few Golden paints and some gel medium. I left Fe at the store to continue shopping and I headed home.

I'm full, tired and in need of a nap before even TRYING to do anything creative this evening! *smiles*

You are a force to be reckoned with, I would have been in a carbohydrate induced coma after the bakery-done deal! Rest up...

I had salted coffee once or twice in the college cafeteria. Some geeks thought it was funny to switch the salt and sugar. Cured me of ever putting sugar in my coffee. Couldn't trust the sugar to be sugar! Learned to drink it black and strong. LOL!!

My heart goes out to your friend and her husband. Brain tumors are never a good thing. I will pray for them.
