Psychedelic Girl

I started a new Zentangle-ish piece last night.  She's looking a little psychedelic don't you think?
Hair - Stage I
Stage II
Stage III
Psychedelic Girl was a little "off center", so I cut the watercolor paper down to 11 3/4" x 8 1/2".  Not sure where I'm going with this piece. Keep it strictly black and white?  Add color?  Collage?  I think this is going to be one of those projects that will sit for awhile and I'll come back to later.

But until then, maybe I'll just have a glass of wine . . .
stamped (rubbernecker and great impressions), distress inked and painted (instead of spraying) on some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists.  Hard to see in the photos, but I also put a thick layer of Glossy Accents over the wine in the glass

So what do YOU have planned this week?

CHARMing Day at Whimzy!

Today was my Charm Necklace workshop at Whimzy! in Old Town Tustin. And from the looks on their faces and the hugs after class, I think the ladies all enjoyed the class.

And although these ladies look confused here, they aren't!  They are just "auditioning" their pieces :) . . .
See the empty chair?  One of the ladies hadn't made it to class yet, but when she arrived (by motorcycle), she had homemade brownies in tow!  I would have to say that's better than bringing an apple for the teacher, wouldn't YOU?  LOL  Oooooh and YES, they were VERY good.  And Sheryl served lemonade and some melt-in-your-mouth cupcakes to us as well.  Yuuummmy
Here are some of the happy faces I was talking about . . .
A few close ups . . .
I would like to thank Sheryl and Dianne (Whimzy! store owners) for inviting me to teach at their store again.  And a HUGE thank you to the ladies that attended:  Michele, Tami, Judy, (another) Judy, Julie, Lorna and Sheryl.

PS  Did I mention that two of the ladies came as far away as TEMECULA and MURRIETA?!

PSS  And btw . . . they DID like those bookmarks that I made for them *smiles*

PSSS Here are a few snapshots I took around the store today.  And here's Sheryl's blog post today - click HERE . . .
Well, like the "Party Girl" above, I think I've partied enough for one day.  Time to kick back and have a glass of pinot noir and catch up on some dvr recorded programs from last week - Top Chef Masters, Army Wives, Brothers & Sisters, and 24!

Whatever you had planned for the weekend, I hope you are enjoying it to the fullest!

Those Zentangled Bookmarks

A couple of blog posts ago, I showed you some Zentangled Bookmarks that I've made for the ladies in my workshop this Saturday as little "thank-you-for-coming" gifts.  PoetNessa from Writers of Wrongs website left a comment to ask if I would share how I put the bookmarks together.

I hope you won't be disappointed PoetNessa *or any other readers*, but this is how easy it was!  I started out with a 12-pack of bookmarks that I picked up from Michael's craft store for one dollar . . .

I used some foam stamps by Memory . . .
and  Jet Black Archival Ink . . .

I stamped the initial in the middle of the bookmark and then Zentangled around the initial . . .
I used a Silver Calligrapher Pen-Touch pen to edge the bookmarks and then added black and white ribbon through the holes . . .
And that's it!  You can left click on the photos to get a closer look.

March 31, 2010 WOYWW and Winnings!

I'm joining in for What's on Your Workspace Wednesday again this week.  I've been creating inside as well as out on the balcony this week.  The weather has been soooooo nice these days.  And although I do live in Southern California, the weather man said it looks like rain coming our way today.  But that's ok, I can still work outside since my balcony is covered.

Here's what's on my workspace outside on my balcony . . .
Vintage rulers I'm going to be cutting up for a workshop I'm teaching in June, pens I use for Zentangling, gesso for canvases I'm prepping, some wood laser cuts of butterflies and birds in one bowl and keys and locks in the other.

Some collaged atc's I'm working on and some laser cut "dark doll" pieces for some steampunk jewelry I'm contemplating.  In the other photo is a vintage English book, a French/English dictionary and a Japanese/English dictionary to use in some collage pieces.

(Above) Inside on my coffee table in the living room is this work-in-progress of a Zentangle-inspired New York jazz piece.  This piece is on watercolor paper and is approximately 8" x 9".

Above are some atc's laying out on the coffee table as well.  Some with bling added (Stickles glitter glue) and are still drying this morning . . . Platinum of course.  You know how I love my Platinum Stickles :)

On another note, look what I won this week over on Jenny Doh's blog CrescenDOH and on Eileen's blog Art Saves Lives!  Thank you ladies :)  It's been a good week so far.
