Is it Live or is it Memorex?

Remember that commercial from the late 70's - "Is it Live or is it Memorex?" Well, that's what came to mind when I was out in El Monte, CA earlier this week, and saw these in a car dealership showroom . . .
Life-like puppies that breathe! . . .
They are called Perfect Petzzz - The newspaper? It was laminated . . . . . .

You can adopt one for $31.95 . . .

What are your thoughts???

Update: Cathie at Magic Markings Art asked, "what do they eat?" Here's a photo of the faux food that was in the doggie cage . . .

they couldn't be as much fun or cuddly as the real thing, but i bet they don't shed.

The first photo scared the heck out of me - then I was so relieved to see they were "memorex" (and yes, I do remember that commercial, thanks for the flashback!) Part of me says, "it's a gimmick" but if it keeps people from buying something live that they are not ready to care for, then why not? The laminated newspaper is brilliant!

I guess in these times most car dealerships have "gone to the dogs." Sorry, I couldn't resist.;)

oh this is too funny. I have one of these. My husband bought me a little boxer one for a birthday about 5 years ago at Hallmark.

We faked out his daughter for a long time with pics and telling her we got a new puppy.

When kids come over they are immediately drawn to it and "pet the puppy".

I have long sense quit putting batteries in so no breathing just sleeping. ha ha

I think it is funny they had these in a cage with paper.
