Birds - No Bees ATC's and Saturday at the RSC

Above is the artist trading card I entered in the atc contest at the rubberstamp convention Saturday. My card placed 3rd.

Huuuummm, I hope I'm not stuck on 3rd - I placed 3rd in the last atc contest back in March there. I'm going to really have to create a card that will knock the judge's socks off in November.

my winnings!!

Here's the board with the atc entries . . .

Lately, I've been drawn to birds and have been using them in my artwork. Below are 5 bird artist trading cards I recently completed.

The background paper I used for the 6 cards is from a Cavellini parent sheet that I've probably had rolled up and in a corner for at least the past 3 or 4 months waiting to be used.

I added a little piece of sheet music I found with *the birds sprightly . . .* on it to the card above.

The wooden birds are made from vintage paper illustrations of birds that were applied to 1/8" thick baltic birch board and then cut with a laser cutting machine. I get these birds and crowns from one of my favorite etsy shops The Porkchop Show. Scott is just the best. If you purchase from him, please tell him I sent you!

The words *Birds warble* and a little more sheet music was added to the atc above.

I sat this bird in the nest and cut a piece of sheet music to run across the bottom of the atc above. This is the one that I was going to enter in the contest, but I left it at home on the dresser.

Nothing more added than the gold edge and a light coating of DG3 Art Gel by Judikins on the atc above.

I didn't use a wooden bird on the 6th and final bird atc in the series. However, I did add a wooden crown and words cut from an old book.

All of the birds (with the exception of the one I left on the dresser) above have flown off to other places now. I traded them at the Rubberstamp Convention yesterday.

Ok, enough about the birds. Let's move on to Saturday at the Rubberstamp Convention! Let's start with Tim . . . as in Holtz . . .as in one of my favorite dem-o-ers at the show.

See the tag Tim is working on above? Here's the finished tag below. It's starting to be like a tradition now. I always ask for at least one of Tim's tags he makes at the shows. I've got a nice little collection going (smiles)

and below are some photos from the Stamper's Anonymous booth where Tim was doing the demos . . .

Stamps . . .

new stamps . . .

more stamps . . .

Next we have Hannah Grey Curiosities & Drygoods

I got a chance to meet Shoshanah and Mike Jennings in person at their booth. It is always a treat to put faces with the people you meet on-line!

I spoke with Shosh before I left on Saturday, and she said they were doing really well in their booth that day - better than they had expected. I'm soooo happy for them - being their first time at this show and all. Look at all of the people at their booth and heading over to their booth in the morning . . .

And another one of my favorites at the show was Zettiology . . .

Then there was Magenta . . .

and Invoke Arts and Studios Blackbird . . .

Sorry, but I don't remember what booth these were from, but nice samples to get you inspired . . .

and of course there was Miss Vicky from Cut-it-Up . I always enjoy hanging out with Vicky at the shows. She's such a crack up (smiles)

That's Vicky's husband - Mr. Breslin back there helping a customer.

and look at these! I picked up a couple to use as book covers. Darn it, I didn't get a photo of the book Vicky made as a sample . . .

At 11:00, Vicky did a demo in one of the upstairs rooms. Look who I found out in the crowd. Yep, that's Dede smiling and looking this way in the white top . . .

These are a couple of Vicky's digital grounds transfer technique projects . . .

and here are some bracelets a mother and her daughters made at Vicky's booth . . .

and here are a couple of friends of mine (Mary on the left and Diana on the right) starting a make and take project at Vicky's booth . . .

and these are some of the things I brought home from the show. See those Tonic Studios scissors with the red handles in the photo? Well, I had a pair, but have seemed to have misplaced them recently. I can't live without these scissors, so I had to buy another pair.

They have extra large Kushgrip handles and cut just about everything! They have a non-stick coating to minimize adhesive build up and they are rust resistant. AND, they cost less than $15.00!

So that's how I spent my Saturday. Thanks for stopping by and spending some time reading my blog today!

You are so in-the-know at the thing Sherry! It was only the second show I've been to, but I'm not much of a stamper. I spent all my cashola with Teesha, and Shoshana, love their stuff. Spent all day playing in my art journals today! Sounds like you had a great time there and saw it all.

Sherry - thanks for visiting my blog. I've added you to my list of favorites! Your site is terrific. Oh to live so far away in Oklahoma. We have a stamp convention in Grapevine (Dallas, TX) this weekend but I won't be able to go! Darn!

Congratulations on your 3rd place ATC card - it looks awesome to me!
