Saturday Morning . . .

Woke up early (as usual)and called the Post Office to see what time they opened. I was told 8am. Great! I needed to get my "I am . . ." atc's in the mail for a swap today so they would make it to Florida no later than next Tuesday. Ohhhh, I really cut it close this time. Yikes!

Arrived at the Post Office at 7:50am, only to find out that they do not open until 9:00am on Saturdays (urrrrrrrrrgh). I sat in the parking lot and called them back to see if I misunderstood what I had been told. The same guy answered the phone and remembered me calling and replied with, "ohhhh, I didn't know you meant today". Aaaah yeeaaaah - duuuuhhh.

I wasn't going to go back home, so I decided to call my cell phone carrier - Verizon while I waited in the parking lot. Wanted to see if they had any better "deals" for me than the lousy "deal" I currently have. Turns out they did. So I spent most of the remaining hour talking to Verizon and confirming everything.

So now it's about 9:30am. A little late to get started with looking for garage sales, but I thought - hey, I could just drive around the neighborhood and see if anything was going on.

This is what I got at the first spot . . .

The hat is wildflower scented, the fan is organza scented, and the slippers are citrus/Floral scented. All are triple-milled soaps that are vegetable-based. Aren't they just the cutest?! Wanna know how much I paid???? ONE DOLLAR!

Then for 25 cents I got this 6 in 1 coffee table game. I bought it for the miniature domino pieces . . .

Didn't see anything else in Lake Forest on the way home, so I decided to go just a little bit further. Well, I'm glad I did. Look at these great finds!!

That shabby chic wall shelf with mirror and three hooks only set me back a mere $2.00!! And the lamp including the shade - $3.00. You know I can hardly WAIT to redo the shade and make this a permanent fixure on my dressing table!

AND, I met the lady of the house who is the owner - Audrey, of Gem Bebe. Audrey was "auditioning" her set-up for an upcoming show she is doing in L.A. to show and sell her candles, jewelry and aromatherapy products. Her soy candles were so fresh and clean smelling - just like a new born baby. Audrey's product line is in Spa Gregories in Newport Beach and Rancho Santa Margarita, Bella Carta in Rancho Santa Margarita, Hush Baby in Tustin and Aliso Viejo, and several other stores. If you don't live in the area, Gem Bebe products can also be purchased on-line at GEM Bebe

I went to the flea market and spent $23. I can't even begin to describe the amount of coolness that $23 can buy in rural Ohio. Girl. When ARE you coming?

Now Mary, you KNOW I know all about rural Ohio . . .well, maybe not Ohio, but don't forget, I was raised in Indiana. I may be living here in So Cal now, but you can take the girl out of the country - but you can't take the country out of the girl!!

When I was back in Indy a few years ago for my cousin's 50th wedding anniversary, one of her daughters and I went garage sale hopping. I had soooooooooo much fun with her! And the prices were sooooooo much better for stuff than out here.

I think I'm missing the mid-west more now that I've met you! eeeeeee

Hi Vallen! One of the events you are probably referring to is the Vintage Vavoom Tea Party at Paris in a Cup Tea Salon. I'm thinking I may have to find $55 to go to that. It includes an autographed copy of Vintage Vavoom and a goodie bag to boot!
