My Day at The Rubber Stamp Convention

I FINALLY got to meet Genevieve of Another Creative Outlet in person.  We met up at the RSC earlier today and hung out *probably for hours???* at Tim's table.   So nice meeting you Genevieve!

happy photo of me and Genevieve after we just met

The Cookie Story:  Genevieve had blogged yesterday that she was going to bake some cookies to share with her friends at the convention, so I asked her to save me a little bag.  Well, she gave me the cutest bag all tied with a pretty ribbon that I IMMEDIATELY opened and commenced to eating every single cookie in the bag!  I bet that didn't look too lady-like - YIKES!

I guess I must have looked pretty hungry (they don't have food for sale at the convention any more), because Genevieve gave me another bag of cookies.  And did I eat those?  I just couldn't . . . I didn't want to look like I had never had home-baked-right-out-of-the-oven-oatmeal-raisin-cookies before, so I slid them into my bag, smiled and said thank you.  Before I left the show, Genevieve must have read a hungry look on my face, because she slipped another bag to me.  I am so glad she did, because now I have TWO bags of homemade cookies to have with my morning coffee *hee hee*.  Thank you sooooo much for baking those de-li-cious cookies Genevieve!!

The Tim Tag Story:  This is my story and I'm stickin' to it!  LOL
I asked Tim if the tag he was creating at the time had been spoken for.  It had - by my friend Mary Valleau.  No worries.  Tim told me that the NEXT tag would be mine.

After he had created the background for MY TAG, he let me pick any set of stamps from the rack that I wanted him to use on MY TAG.  Now how cool was THAT?!  Ooooh, if you know me, then you know I had fun with rubbing THAT one in *hee hee*.  And can you see the letter "S" that Tim included on my tag?

photo of Genevieve coveting my tag and her friend Renee trying to steal it!  she doesn't look all that happy NOW does she?

Ok, I'll cut to the chase.  Genevieve was coveting my tag (see photo above) and asked Tim if he would make HER one.  Well, being the nice guy Tim IS, he obliged.  I guess he just didn't want to hurt her feelings.  *like I said, this is my story and I'm stickin' to it!*

When Tim started to stamp Genevieve's tag, he asked her what stamps she wanted him to use.  She told him that anything he did with a bird was just fine with her and that she was open to ANYTHING!  Yeah yeah yeah . . . make me look like I'm the whining DIVA!!  Well, if you want to read all about her tag . . . or should I say her BRAGGING about her tag . . . you can read about it HERE on her blog.

Ok, ok . . . you're going to see it on her blog anyway, so I guess I'll go ahead and tell you, I coveted HER Tim Tag as WELL.  But wait my friends!! . . . look at THIS!

Yep, that's Genevieve sticking her tongue out at me as she holds up her Tim Tag.  Wow, and I thought I had made a new friend.  Can you BELIEVE she would act like this?!

I need to get over this, so let me just move on to the rest of the convention *sigh*

Cruise Buddies:  It was like old home week at the convention!  I got to see quite a few ladies that were on the recent Tim Holtz cruise *big smiles* Here are a few photos . . .

Tim at the Table:  It's funny, my friend Linda Bucci (we went to the RSC together today) told me after the convention, that she was surprised I was at Tim's table so long *most of the entire day!* after being on the cruise just last month for 8 days.  She said she would have thought I would have learned everything.

I told her that EVERY time I watch Tim I learn something new.  I guess he just always has something up his sleeve to teach us.  And yes, I've watched all of his videos, I follow his blog and we're Facebook friends.  Ooooooh, I wonder if I'm a Tim Holtz "groupie" or something?  Do I need to seek medical help?

Update: Tim using Copic Markers  the Alcohol Ink Refillable Pens.

I remembered to take my cruise tote with me this morning so I could have Tim sign it.

another one of the tags that Tim made at the table.  cool background!

I guess I need to do some shopping at Trader Joe's.  Look at the tote bag above that one of my friend's friend was carrying at the convention today!  I love the colors, the graphics, the size, the shape . . . yep, I've got to have one of these.

Saw my friend Linda Forrest from Stampmaiden's Artventures at the show.  Look at the package of goodies she brought me.  Thanks again Linda *smiles* - nice seeing you today!

At 2pm I headed over to the artist trading card contest.  I added some more Platinum Stickles to one of the cruise atc's and submitted it.  Nope, didn't win anything.  I thought with the watercolored & laced stenciled background technique . . . oops, do you think the Scotch thing offended anyone?  *hee hee*

These were the winners . . .

Congratulations!

It's back home now to the laundry, dusting, and vacuuming.  Need to finish this housework stuff up so I can "play" tomorrow!

I hope you had as much fun as I did today!  And for anyone that is visiting my blog for the first time and doesn't know my sense of humor, I really DO like Genevieve! *smiles*

Oh, if I were the jealous type I'd be green as Kermit right now. You see Tim, you get a custom tag, you get homemade cookies, a bag of goodies, AND you see so many of our cruise buddies!
A story like yours is about the only thing to make me sorry I live in NY. LOL!
Glad you had such a great day, and I enjoyed reading every minute of it.

Hello Sherry,

I think you're in serious problems : addicted to homemade cookes and Tim and artzheimer's disease...
They only cure I can come up with is "creating" as much as you can : use the artstuff you find in your studio and create with that and give a Tim twist to it...:)

greetings from Belgium
Inge

Oh, man! I AM as green as Kermit with envy! (lol) I think we'd have to live with Tim to learn all of the creativity he has in his head ... hmmm ... think we can arrange that? Can you imagine, just days & days & days of Tim, in his studio? Oh, be still my heart!

Congrats on getting your bag signed - though I'm still pouting you didn't take mine along, too. (lol) AND you got cookies & a Tim-made tag??? Very cool!

Sherry, I love your ATC...yes, it should have won!! Great day wasn't it...May I use two of your photos for my blog?? Tim's doll heads were so hilarious...he mentioned something about bedposts...ha ha, they'll end up in his "stash" of inspirations. I'm going to be back today just for a quick fix!

Sherry - I'm back! I check in once a week or so, it took me this long to set up the google account. Cool etsy stuff. I first met you at a stampington parking lot sale years ago. You gave me a Moo card! I've seen you since at different shows a few times a year and check in to your site when I sit down to do my 'rounds. Nice to finally be able to comment. Kerry

Oooooh Kerry, we've known/seen each other for a long time now - That Stampington sale was at least a couple of years ago! :) I'll check my e-mail to see if you sent me your e-mail address as well.

Have a great week and I'll see you at CHA?????

Tim wouldn't use Copic Markers as noted in one of your photos. Those are the new Refillable Alcohol Ink markers. You refill them with the Alcohol Ink and use them like a marker.

Sherry Goodloe said...

This message is for Daisy (no blog and no e-mail). I have updated what I typed under the photo I posted.

When we were all standing/sitting there at the table talking about the Copic markers when Tim was showing us the technique, I guess I got distracted *smiles*

Thank you for stopping by to bring the fact that he was using the refillable alcohol ink pens to my attention Daisy.

Have an art-filled day!
